Sounds like you were careful in croc country top end Ozzie.
Follow up correction on Rollingstone croc, the drone spotted three large crocs 3-4m long in Rollingstone ck estuary (near fishermans landing/free camp grounds) one was 3m and was possibly the croc in the fresh swimming hole which returned to its normal habitat. They wont be trapped and moved as it's zone E, (unless they go outlaw..ie. attack or stalk people/dogs etc)
So if any travelling I563s, other travelling boaties or any camper up here.. another safety rule is don't camp within 50m of a salties hangout (fishermans landing camp ground is over 50m away from croc waters edge, but not by much).
Another ramp rule is for everyone to never clean fish there.
Your idea of sleeping inside the van good. I have a swag so would use it on my ute's tray back if near an mangrove estuary up north (or inside the I563 cabin). Wouldn't "tent it" on the ground.
We just had huge king tides and events like this would expand croc habitat in hours.

Re: General interest Links and Videos
Came across this interesting sailing video, from small craft Tasmania. They sailed a 12ft scamp and 13ft Houdini (both Welsford designs) around the SE Cape of Tassy recently. (The Houdini ( "Spart") completing a circumnavigation of Tas). They a very capable dinghy cruising skippers and some of the tips/skills might apply to I563 sailing.

Great video Andrew. Inspiring in fact. I watch a lot of YouTube stuff like this and it’s the story, not the production values that sell it.
Mat’s “ less is more” philosophy is refreshing. The sailing aspects of the video are self explanatory, but in case you missed it, his basic “sailing Tuckerman” tip was worth noting.
Sailing tucker is a packet of “Simply Wholesome Instant Nourish Bowl with quinoa with peas, carrots, corn and extra virgin olive oil”. From Coles or woolies “health food” section. He then adds some canned tuna or four been mix or corn which has the water in the tin which is very convenient. Not sure if the water in the vegetable tins is sufficient to cook it , I’ll have to experiment. He’s using edamame beans in this case. (soy beans in the pod).
One of our quick lunches on the fly in the boat or motorhome is small can of corn mixed in with small can of tuna. Simple food, simple rig, simple gear.
The Scamp is an impressive small craft, particularly with that small tent addition. Definitely a solo only job I’d say though. His double bed set up in the cockpit would be pretty crowded.
