Jacking up an I563 off the trailer

I am contemplating getting my boat off its trailer and jacking it up so I can repaint the hull. I'Il being doing it undercover in a carport arrangement that is high enough for the boat.

I have studied many of the posts and photographs here on the site and still am unsure how to get it lifted so I can drive out the trailer - realise I need to support the keel and side supports of timber to keep it up right and in place.

Any details and/or descriptions/photos of how this can be done safely and with a minimum of fuss would be appreciated. I suspect others may find this useful also. Thanks.

I dont know the best way to do it but i reckon this trailer would be the easiest! Found these images surfing the web, the guy who built it would have been a pretty serious engineer but I can dream of building something similar (in my dreams..........)

it not to hard and i will try and show you how first have a look at this to give you the idea

get two jacks and lots of wood

1. start at the back of the boat make sure you put wood on top of the jack and lift 20 mm at first
then stack wood next to the jack till your at the same height low the jack keep repeating
work your way along the boat slowly lifting .
keeping the boat at the same level all the way along as much as you can
and then go back to the beginning and start left again.

2.after the first run get six bit of wood cut the tops on a angle and find a way of stopping the other end of the wood from slip out
and put up against the hull to stop the boat from going over.

as you lift the boat the bit of wood on the hull are going to move so check them with ever lift in height that you do
i had one come off and full to the ground as i lifted
jump out of my skin when it did it lol
so keep check them

i then put two wood horses at the back of the boat to hold it but you can use just the stack of wood under the keel
remember use six for the side if one fulls the other will hold it
it just for side movement not to hold the weight of the hull.

when the hull is just above the rollers slow move the trailer out
you have to keep jacking and moving the wood out of your way
moving forwarded or back as you pull the trailer out.
it safe but do not let any one jump on the deck to do some thing if your just using wood and not metal stands .

it is going to take you a day to lift the boat off the trailer

I took mine off the trailer, I just lowered the side supports/rollers on the trailer to give clearance to the hull,,. pulled a strap around the hull and through the bow eye to a chain block on the ground behind the boat and cranked it off backwards. Once at balancing point I jacked under the keel at the stern and blocked it up.Then chocked the sides and drove the trailer out from under it, placing another block under the keel before the bow slipped off the trailer, took about a 1/2 hour.

Rather than jacking the boat up, which has a lot of hazards, if you can launch onto a grassy patch it is much safer. There is a procedure which may be even on this site. Or search http://www.johncrawfordmarine.com.au/tr ... igator-563
