I originally used to run the mooring line over the small bow anchor roller and then tie it off but my mooring contractor suggested the fairlead. The chafe sleeve locks right into it tightly and there is no chance of it coming out no matter how crepe the weather. ie last week.
To cast off I need to pull the mooring line through to the unsleeved section and then twist it 45 deg out of the fairlead. No way it can undo by itself.
I sleep easy with my regular service coupled with the fact that my mooring block was originally put down for my old Swiftcraft cruiser so I knw it's more than adequate for a light, low windage lady like Spritz.
My only worry in weather like recently is that another vessel who does not have good mooring gear will collect me and overload my aperatus, but there was very little of that happening during the blow . All up about three boats broke loose over the east side of LM and only damaged themselves.
