RE my earlier post about removing the toilet and filling in the through hulls, would it be a better idea to use the inlet through hull located in the center V berth hatch for a transducer and replace the outlet with a new through hull with sea cock and capped for a future possible sink?

Hi Tah,
I would personally keep a pump out dunny and fit a small holding tank to it that can be pumped out into the ocean or transferred to marina services. Pump it out or tank it, best of both worlds. I would rather just shit at home before I go sailing and not use the beast at all.

Hi every one,
I,ve decided to go for a spring launch date which will give me time to clean her up and do the jobs necessary where i will feel confident putting her on the water.
I'm going to rebed all her deck fittngs and have decided to use butyl tape for all fittings above the water line.I'm also going to keep the throuhulls for now but will replace them and fit sea cocks.

Is this your old rudder? and if so can u tell me what it is made of?

Mate that rudder is the standard rudder supplied with the 563 the same as my white one in this thread.

They are much maligned but have some advantages. One, they are light and two, as I found out, are hollow and as such float. Most people prefer a swing rudder for obvious reasons.

Can u tell me if the stainless where the rudder mounts is two pieces? It is corroded together and dont want to force it if its one piece'

Also as i'm going to rebed the windows should i drill all the holes and through bolt rather than screwing?

Tah, sorry as my rudder is out on the boat on the mooring I'm not really sure. Someone here still running an original rudder should be able to help . Hopefully I will be sailing this weekend and I will take a look then if nobody else has chimed in in the meantime.

it is one piece u shape x2
when i got mine it looked the same made of fiberglass
undo the bolts and use a center punch to knock out the bolts or just smaller old bolts
give it a sand back but don,t take the gel coat off then a paint up with marine paint
silicon the new bolt you put in to keep the water out
give it a week to dry out when you get the old bolts out.

Hi everyone,

I finally took some pics of Toreisi's tiller which as you can see is a bit worse for wear.I'm t5hinking that this isnt the original, so if someone could confirm this and i'm open to suggestions on a new one, lifting perhaps?

Very nice Steve almost exactly what i was thinking of. Did you make it yourself?

Mine looks like it may have been a quick fix, I think ian said that a previous owner had the tiller, boom and a few other things stolen .
That explains why the boom looks almost new!
