big boat going pass you !!

as you are going along at 5 knots some big luxury yacht comes zooming past at high speed
and makes a big wave
this happen to me last time i was out i had to turn the boat in to it because it was so big !!
the bow jump up in the air over the other side of the wave and it put the nose Nealy under the water!

Any one got a better plan of action?.

Indicates $250 fine for excessive wash apart from the other offence of "excessive wash in a no wash zone". If big stinkies wash creates a navigation hazard I beleive they should get slammed for it. But I doubt it never happens . Often when negotiating the narrow Swansea channel when going fishing Spritzig II has been knocked seven ways and up by fast moving power boats and even large yachts under motor. They then often almost overturn small tinnys and SOT fishing kayaks . It's about time RMS got there act together on this. There will be issues if we get a fatality.

As to what to do . My mate suggested if the waterway is crowded and you can't be identified get on the radio if you have one and broadcast( using real offenders details)

"MV CLOWNHEAD, MV CLOWNHEAD rego number DH 1234 your wake is causing a navigation hazard. , please reduce your speed and control your wash. Then put on three difference accents and get your mrs to do it as well and broadcast half a dozen similar messages . Hopefully MVP Clownhead will get the drift. Also if RMS pick up your transmission it couldn't hurt either hehe.

Always a problem for us small boats and good idea with general broadcast. "blame and shame"
On a positive note I did notice on my last outing on the Hawkesbury a couple of larger oncoming vessels turning hard to stbd (much to my initial bewilderment and panic) in an attempt to minimize their wash effect.
