Found this and thought it may suite the 563s front in beaching method.

Re: Clothesline mooring
This is for leaving your boat unattended. I read somewhere, and it might be in NSW, that the authorities were penalising boaties who anchor their boats and then leave them unattended. With this rig maybe you could argue that the boat was moored, rather than anchored.

Re: Clothesline mooring
Think its more to be able to go ashore easily but keep your boat within its draft for tide changes . If its now illegal to leave an anchored boat unattended it has big consequences for the cruising community and particularly solo sailers. 95% of CH stories contain shore excursions fron anchored vessels. Just another rule to consider or a sweetheart deal between the govt and marina owners . Like free camping ***sing off caravan park owners . Go overseas for your holidays. Australia , the regulated country.

Re: Clothesline mooring
Funny you posted this just after I read this morning a piece about a couple sailing in Norway fiords I think and that this is the way the moor their bots when in fiords with cliffs, apparently their are mooring rings on land - usually rock and they have an anchor off the stern, all very normal.
Re New law I saw a reference to this also in one of the latest issues of Alfoat but there was no cross reference to the actual statute. We need a maritime wallah to give us the low down on this. I am in Marine Rescue NSW and have heard nothing of the change to date.
Cheers

Re: Clothesline mooring
I was surprised to see when I walked around the yachts in Helsinki harbour, that very few had bow rollers or anchor wells. Was told that this is because they usually anchor bow in.

Re: Clothesline mooring
Have not seen the Afloat issue but asked a sailing friend, also a blue water cruiser who had and he said there is no law change. Apparently someone was anchored in a main channel and was booked under some existing legislation. It is an idiot thing to create laws that put unreasonable control on competant people. Most people are not going to do something stupid that would endanger themselves or others and those who do won't be stopped by laws.
