Sail on tiller

Post by Ozzie »

A link on TSP below took me to an interesting device..

http://www.scribd.com/doc/14218367/Sail ... W-Bligh-RN

...that being a Tiller sail, not the usual one but a separate self adjusting tiller trimming sail. Anyone ever used one?? This is interesting by virtue of its simplicity. Works not unlike heaving to but while underway.

One TSP member has a book on self steering rigs and noted this is not one he has ever seen mentioned.

Arh the internet........a vast treasure house of human knowledge ;)

I went searching and found this old post. As we have a lot of new members since them I'm bumping it. No I did not ever try it but I have come into possession of an old windsurfer sail and it's crossing my mind again.
