Hi All
I would be interested in pictures and comments about modifications to the existing mainsheet traveller. I am thinking on adding a pulley-cleat system to make it easier to move the traveller during sailing manoeuvres. I recently have been experimenting with using the traveller to maintain speed during sailing something I had not paid much attention to before. I also recently bought a Flying11 ($100) recently which I am restoring and this has a good traveller system which again motivated me to thinking how I could improve this on Aminee. Comments welcome please.
Thanks
Mark

Re: mainsheet traveller
Hi Mark,
Mmmm the traveller on my boat Pip is not a traveller at all. The only control I have are little stoppers which restrict the range of movement possible. What I have found, with a well-cut, new main is that the end of the boom needs to be as open as possible when beating to windward. On Pip the track, positioned on the transom, is about 40 cm. When tacking I just ensure the mainsheet goes from one side to the other. On any other point of sail a good boom vang is worthwhile.
Be interested to see how you go - having a rolling boom for reefing, my mainsheet has to attach to the end of the boom which makes putting in a traveller problematical.

Re: mainsheet traveller
I have full width "I" beam traveller with a 2:1 continuous adjustment line to cam cleats on the car. Can pull it to windward if I wish. It was on the boat when I bought it and really wouldn't have expected anything else. You can see, a not really good pic, on discussion topic Mooring/Anchoring
