I have replaced the timber handrails on Spritzig II. The boat has come up a treat as always but the rails devalued it . I used hardwood 22mm from the green shed which was three times the cost of the last time I did it but who’s not surprised. Looks great and original. This timber which I’ve quoted their ad description below is easy to work and bends easily to the shape of the brackets. All sealed with epoxy in the fixings to keep it waterproof. I will be suggesting to the new owner he keeps split pool noodle or caravan drain hose over it when not in use. It has three coats of quality exterior varnish. The first one thinned for good absorption but I think “ exterior “ varnish is a highly optimistic description in many cases. Call me an old cynic.
“Eucalyptus Grandis is a fast-growing Australian hardwood known for durability. With soft pink and peach hues, it's ideal for joinery, furniture, flooring, and more.”
