Now down to details. First the good news. Currently the boat trailer has been refurbished and registered. I cut the sections out with any rust and replaced them with new Duragal metal all professionally welded by a mate who’s a retired boiler maker who did a cracking job, better and neater than the original. Wheels and tires were replaced a few years back as per my post then and have done virtually no kilometres. As per my trailer post I’ve spent over $2000 on all new parts and professionally fitted running gear to bring the trailer up to new functionality. Also I recently got a new three speed winch which ironically I fitted so I could soldier on with ownership for a few more years. All trailer lights were replaced with LEDs some time ago. Even the wheel nuts are new. See post above with pictures.

CONS
My pull ring failed a while back. The boat will need a new keel pull ring welded on BUT I’m not endorsing that method anymore. Peter’s use of a stainless shackle (supplied)with plastic sleeve is I think simple and better. A cobalt drill from the green shed will drill a hole through the cb. Swing cb has had marine growth removed but will need a clean up , paint and pull rope reattached. I was keeping the boat I would also be replacing the stainless pivot bolt. Works ok but It’s original. New owner will need to do this. Thrown in for free is the full heavy duty rear stand (worth about $500 based on the cost of Duragal components ) for the back of the boat allowing you to service the centre board easily with the front still on the trailer. This was made for a Court 750 so it’s more than up to the job. I intended to do this but I’m just not up to it anymore.

What you get.
The Boat, Spritzig II , SAIL NO 143.
This boat has several unique features. The private head forward with closing door, (see below) incorporating twin mast compression posts and the full SS taffrail extending from the cabin rear right around the cockpit other than entry point above the rudder. Geoff referred to this as the “Kingswood model, I liked that description. The stand for servicing. Sails jib no1 and 2. Main sail. All with their own bag which they always go back into after sailing. All standard originals in good order. Headboard on the main had the stainless rivets replaced last service. (Check yours readers) Spinnaker with pole. I have a small sail suitable to rig as a storm sail as well. 5 Hp Mariner longshaft outboard, water cooled with only about 5 hours since last full service. (Always flushed )BUT BUT though starting and running will require new impeller as it has been sitting unused for some time.

A 7 foot aluminium tender with disassembling oars which tows nicely under motor or sail. Great for shore excursions or kids playing pirate, rear heavy duty stand for servicing the centre board. All gear to operate boat including two anchors, Metho Stove, tools. Utensils, plastic crockery if you want it and nesting cooking gear, the works. PFDS for four. Battery for lighting is included but not sure of its viability. All rigging. Running rigging was replaced as per earlier thread (spectra)new spectra top lifeline(easy to cut in emergency)

There are also lots of niceties like Australian flag and bunting torches spare parts and the like . As our yachting days are over we won’t be needing any of this stuff for a new boat. New owner can have the lot and you need to buy basically zero. You can stick in your beer and hat and go sailing. (I’ll throw in a hat if you wish)

As per pics on the haulout thread the boat is divided into two compartments with a private head (chem toilet) with own door in the front, this is a great feature if you have all female crew like me. As far as I know this is the only 563 so fitted out. Importantly, the door frame also serves as the mast compression posts. This was done very comprehensively and most professionally by the previous owner. All recently revarnished in marine gloss clear.

Included, there are covered additional 3” foam mattresses for quarter berths which can be used in conjunction with standard vinyl covered seat cushions for overnights. Very comfortable even for my stuffed spine.

Other than noted work above, the boat is in good operating condition and as per my extensive coverage of my refit a few years back, made very serviceable as a fun family sailing vessel. As per this thread you can see the work that went into her. If you put “Spritzig “ into the search box you will note she has been well looked after and because moored bought back to saleable condition on every haulout. Not many boats on the forum have been renovated ten times LOL.

The sad part about selling her is we really have finally got her just about perfect for our use. But doing the little add ons along the way have been part of the fun I guess and kept us sane during Covid lockdowns.

Price which is firm is $5000 which I think is reasonable given comparisons with recent sales. Price is determined by extensive refurbishment with new parts on trailer which is self explanatory. I’m not marketing it as a showpiece but as a usable family boat that will give you all the fun and enjoyment it has us, for decades to come if you maintain it, and they are not difficult vessels to maintain.

The boat is registered. It is currently having a good polish and two new coats of high quality International anti-foul applied. I’m assuming most buyers won’t want to moor BUT this will allow you to freely go on extended cruises without having to be concerned about marine growth on your hull. The boat was properly prepared with two pack epoxy before first anti-foul so has no blisters or osmosis. Nor has it any of the hull deformation that seems to occur on regularly trailered Investigators. As it’s hard antifoul it can be trailered easy without damage unlike ablative anti fouls. For the record, Antifoul might slow you by half a knot but there are 5000 boats on Lake Macquarie antifouled all faster and worth a lot more than mine. I think it also looks a shipload better with a black bottom and boot stripe. It also acts as protection for your gel coat when beaching.

As mentioned in the other thread I intend to stay on as a moderator on the forum with Geoff’s concurrence hopefully helping where I can to share my 21 years of experience with investigators. So it’s not goodbye from him. Pm me for any details you might want. I’m not posting my phone number in the open forums as I’m knee deep in spammers as it is.

I’m posting this only on this forum for seven days as I’d like it to go to a forum user and then it will go on more public web spots.

Added

Also included is this popup beach tent which we use as a quick shade cover for short lunch break length stops . It requires boom to be raised with the topping lift and ties safely to toerail. It fits perfectly between toerails Also included is a standard boom tent which rolls up and stores under the cockpit floor for longer stays.
