Re: Centreboard Removal

Hi Ian. Just to explain the different leading edge on my centreboard. In the past, someone had let the centreboard drop fully down without controlling its weight on the lift rope. This then let the board smash into the front edge ofvthe centreboard case causing damage. I had to do a fibreglass repai...

Re: The Value of Forums

Absolutely spot on Ozzie. Great post. fb is SO frustrating not being able to get back to a post that you just looked at. It really drives me mad.
Cheers mate. Great to see the weather getting back to something like we need to get back into tinkering with the 563.

On board dinghy

Hi all. Saw this brilliant ( to me) idea on fb. Made me think that it might be able to be designed to fit an I 563 instead of using the raisable roof. The stern of the dinghy is open for easy head height entry to the cabin and the stern of the dinghy can be fitted by using wing nuts when you want to...

Re: solar panels and charge controllers

Absolutely brilliant Andrew. LED is certainly the way to go due to their very small power consumption. Also, the red light makes it so much easier at night especially if you are under way whereas the white light tends to blind you from external nav markers etc. Love the way you have mounted it all. ...

Re: solar panels and charge controllers

Yes Andrew, I was wondering if the controller required air circulation or not. Perhaps just a light coating of Vaseline on the terminals might help make it last longer. Also, I was wondering what amount of charging output you get out of your "Sail Pro ". I only get a few milliamps out of m...

Re: solar panels and charge controllers

Hi Andrew, very interesting. Might I suggest, because that controller has brass terminals, and it is not marine grade, that you completely seal them from the air. I would seal the whole thing with silasttic or put it in a plastic bag and then completely seal the opening where the wiring enters with ...

Re: New owner and several issues

Hi Andrew, as for your flexible cabin roof around the mast step, I would say from your description that the plywood core in the roof and / or your mast step is either wet or rotted out. I would really like to see you do a repair on that. There is an article of mine on here about rebuilding the mast ...
