Hold off on the hole position because I think mine are on the groove line in the extrusion - that is why I have to teak packer - it gives you a little extra deck width especially for the stanchions. Hope to be on boat for OZ day weekend so will check

Re: Anchoring / Mooring
Like Ozzie I don't have a tide problem and the beaches on the Myalls are all sandy so I moor stern too as my previous post. Have a good rear end set up for it too Split pushpit rail, kick up rudder (don't know how you guys live with fixed blade), fold up tiller, "marlin board" with folding...

Re: Where can I buy toerail
Mal Attached are the only pics I've got. You will note that there is a square teak packer to enable the rail to be bolted thru the flange rather than going inside the boat. This is held in place by small csk screws fitted horizontally thru the turn down flange. I have no pics of the stanchion bases....

Re: Jib Lines - Rigging
Would think that the safest(best, securest...) way would be to use a block with becket (loop on the top to tie the sheet to) on the slide track instead of the dead eye. That way all of the load is on the track and the sheet would probably run freer than through the deadeye

Re: Legge's Camp Myall Lakes
Ozzie, My boat lives on a mooring at Nerong and I spend all my boating time on the Myalls. Boat is probably a little heavier than most because of the "luxuries" fitted but never had a shallow water problem it you stick to the channels and are aware of the acceptable short cuts. Whilst unde...

Legge's Camp Myall Lakes
Just back from 5 glorious days on the Myalls - a plus after the lousy start to summer. Just a note FYI. Legges Camp (Myall Shores) no longer refills gas bottles - new management who reckon compliance was all too difficult - they do still however have fuel. If you run out its Tea Gardens, Bulahdelah....

Re: Anchoring / Mooring
Unless you are on a very steep shore the motor can be down, besides it has far more grunt ahead than astern and it's less likely to lift clear of the water if its choppy. Am lucky that I have a swing rudder which even when up is in the water for some steerage

Re: Anchoring / Mooring
You couldn't get me to go bow in anywhere especially if there's a possibility of it becoming a lee shore - reckon its just not good seamanship. If you have to leave (in the middle of the niight???) then its easier motoring ahead than astern into any seaway. If I'm not too sure of the weather then I ...

Re: Broken Vang Bracket
Would NEVER use self tappers into GRP when they are load bearing - and as you found out the vang anchorage is subject to a fair LOAD - mostly sideways unless you are using it to bend the boom when sailing upwind - which I doubt. In the first instance tapping a thread into the GRP - like tapping a th...
