Hello Folks,
The rudder on my investigator is solid and pokes down into the water a fair way.
I'd like one of those kick-up rudders i've seen on other trailer sailers, the ones that can be left on the boat while trailering, and enable you to back up to the beach.
Do those things come as ready-made units, or does one have to fabricate one? I've seen them with alluminium frames.
Cheers,
Matt

Re: kick-up rudder
Matt,
There is a design available for an Investigator. I have a hard copy but I'm sure someone will respond and tell you where to find an electronic copy. It used to be on the old Investigator site I think.
Anyway if we can't find a copy let me know and I'll scan the one I have and email it to you.

Re: kick-up rudder
I have attached the original old design. Yara has a drop rudder, which works well. Alternatively you can modify a Castle rudder, which I believe is available from a Melbourne boat builder called Yachtworks.
