Hi Robert
Yes, it seems a trailer that "needs work" can add another half of the boats costs again on a project.
Also adding an inventory can mount up appreciably too as I'm finding to my cost kitting my boat out for the summer season.
The one big positive of course is that this type of boat is worth spending time and money on. I notice the Sydney boat yards have no Investigators for sale and list "more urgently wanted".
cheers

Emrys,
While there are certainly bargains to be had, to get your boat set up as you want it there's a certain investment that needs to be made.
I have to agree with you. It's worth it.
We've figured out that the Investigator is as you put it "worth spending time and money on". We've already got our money's worth out of ours. By my accounting it owes us nothing.
But if I was starting out again, and willing to put in the time and effort, there have certainly been some (apparent) bargains on offer lately.
Hey Robert, why don't you look at the project one? The trailer might be worth $2500???

The cheapie in Brisbane is gone. Was the buyer you, Robert?
The other one is on the south coast of NSW (inland). She is Tikiri. I will attach some photos.

I must own up to having bought the cheap Investigator . Its sail number is 90 and although it needs lots of work it is basically all there . The trailer however needs total replacement of the rear end . Hopefully I can post some pics at a later date .
