Hi All, could someone please let me know how to upload photos from IPad to the Forum. Is there a tutorial I can access. Am starting a refurbishment of #004 and would like to share the trials and triumphs with fellow I563 owners.Thanks.

This forum uses common software, (phpBB) so if you do a search on the internet you will probably get the answer. I had a go last night on my wife's new ipad and hated it compared to Android, but I guess it is what you are used to.

Thanks for bringing this up. I had the original ipad now nearly 5 years old and under that operating system you could not upload pics to the forum .The CHOOSE FILE button was greyed out. Now according to the above that has changed. My wife bought me an ipad mini retina for xmas with the new system to be more compact when we go travelling. It must be able to do this, I'll have to try. I have been a great supporter of Apple stuff since I got into home computer use , even though I had to use PC s at work. But with Apple there was always one or two things that %issed me off and that was one of them . No doubt apple have changed this is response to the growing number of android and windows based tablets which have this feature.

Anyone looking at ipad, I like the mini very much , it is really not much of change over using the large version I just turn it to landscape mode (and scroll) to get the largest page possible . In portrait mode its about the size of a paperback page anyway which is what id been reading for years.

Thanks for the link Ozzie. I'll check it out. Having just picked up the boat I have what seems a hundred things to sort out to get it up to scratch. Learning how to use an iPad just got added to the list.!

All and Phil

I tools used in these forums are archaic and not user friendly this includes the photos upload function. the Board whilst robust has a design and user interface functionality of the 90s and hence a lot of people have issues in uploading material creating links etc.

I suggest further that trying to upload photos from an iPad is going to be a struggle - so I suggest if possible using a computer interface. Its further complicated in that you have to resize any photos you want to upload to less that 100kb (I think is the size) and on an iPad and probably other tablets, this is an issue.

Phil focus on the boat ( much more productive and fun) and work about these ancillary challenges later.

Cheers

Mark

After a life immersed in science and techology sailing in its purist form is truely one of the great pursuits in which to indulge. I find myself moving towards the keep it simple principle in all I do.

i have done a quick test for those interested and the upload button is active . The simple way to reduce size of a photo is to email it to yourself. Next to the cc line of the email you will see a photo size description , click this and choose small and this should bring the size down to under the required 90 k for this site. I assume this may be providing the original file size is not too big.
