Genoa SAIL FITTING

Hi,all i got hold of a Genoa for my boat made out of Dacron it has a wire luff an oldie but a goodie
few rust stains on it ,and will need some new piton hacks but for $1.25 + $20.00 shipping off e-bay i think i did well
on my sail masts i have a roller in the mast to take halyard right at the top which is not being used
the next part is for the forestay and the jib halyard.
can i use the top rollers with a new halyard rope inside the mast,so the sail sits higher off the side deck or do i have to use the jib halyard?
also the best set up to hold the foot of the sail to the back of the cockpit thanks i do not feel like laying more track down the side of the boat.
