Also someone once said the number was under the design award plate! Do you have one?

Edit just found the old post of last compiled list thanks to Raya.

Anyone want to post any missing sail numbers that they know and I will edit.

It will be in the 100s because wagtail is 72 and it only has a single hinge on the front hatch

Hi Ross - I think my front hatch has had additional work done to it. See the photos it doesn't look standard, has 4 strange long bolts for something? Are these the original hinges?

Cheers!

Atles, we are talking sail numbers although many sails that were heavily used have probably gone to god by now after 30 years or onsold to another boat so that could get confusing . Maybe Greg's 563 is sporting a sail the previous owner bought off the original number 10.

The design plate was only on the early models we think. If there, it was on the inside of the main bulkhead next to the main door and reportedly the production number was underneath. Ian may be more able to comment on this . I don't have one but there is an earlier post on here with a high res scan so you can print your own laminate it and wow your friends. ;)

I will republish the name list guys .

Greg , methinks those long bolts may be the attachment points for a secure way of dogging the hatch for crook weather. Imagine two bars across the opening held with thump screws on each long bolt. The bolts need to be long as the opening is curved and the bars would be straight so they would only go on part way . Did you get some straight timber of alloy bars that would fit with the boat :?: It has been discussed on here before how the original hatch, pop top and storm board fitting are the weak points on what is otherwise a well thought out design.

Also you have what appear to be caravan style struts holding the hatch up. I think mine has the originally supplied style which is a chromed brass round strut. My style has a diecast locking ring that is prone to breaking . As replacements are dear as poison, I'd say the alloy caravan style have been used here. I have details of a repair job I did on mine somewhere earlier on this forum but the other one broke earlier this year and now needs a new locking ring welded up fron a stainless washer and bolt.

Nice to see this forum cooking again. A few trip reports would be great. I can't talk , been busy renovating a house and have not been under sail for four weeks.

I think my investigator can safely be locked away at number 10 - on closer look it did originally have (1) center hinge (see photo). I looked for the design award plate but the inside has been painted a few times. I think the smoking gun (for which i have posted a separate topic) is the 40 years worth of different colors this boat has been painted all stuck in the gelcoat antislip pattern.
