I was fishing up at Soldiers Point at Port Stephens last week and came across this yacht in the mooring area . Must be new as I have been there quite a bit and never noticed it before . Sure is different.
I can see the design philosophy I think ...at a certain tipping point the wings would create a tunnel and stop further tipping

OR the the owner likes to play golf on deck.

Maybe he has a wheelchair or the boat is designed for disabled sailors

Yes, I thought of wheelchair access also but there is still large step from the cockpit to the deck. Paul Dandy over on tscom said it apparently has been there for some time and I just have not noticed it. The marina people told Paul it has moveable water ballast . I have experimented with this ...relocated my water container from the back of the boat to the front

It makes you think that there are obviously many possibilities for sailing craft outside the square. I like reading about microcruisers as I've said and the designs of the late Phil Bolger , particularly the Brick always intrigue me. Below are references to Bolgers designs including the Brick

Please post anything you come across or know of on this thread. It's interesting what you can pick up from other designs . Kevin Shepard was clearly an "outside the square" man which is why we are enjoying our little yachts so much now

talking about Kevin Shepard i find it very hard to find things out about him on the net ? any information welcome?

Apart from designing the I563 her designed the Marauder 24 and 27 and was one of the original partners at Hood Sailmakers in Sydney
