Hi all:

I do a fair bit of single-handed sailing, and wondered about the value of fitting lazy jacks to the main and boom.

Has anyone fitted such a system on their boat, and can share pros and cons and setup info please?

I am sure they can be a great boon when sailing. However, for a trailer-sailer, it is an added complication to the rigging time. In the case of the Investigator 563, you can stand in the open cabin hatch and tie the reef points, so unless you are single handed it is not a big problem. Even then, I tend to heave-to when reefing, so even single-handed it is easy.

It also helps to have luff slides on the main rather than just a bolt rope. Again, spend the money on a sail feeder, and that can be less of a problem. Mmm, something I can buy for a bit of retail therapy and use my better main....
