IYA Investigator Yacht Association Australia Day Cruise

Post by Yara50 »

The IYA will be having a cruise over the Australia Day long weekend in Upper Broken Bay (Just north of Sydney).

The co-ordinater, the indomitable Doug, has agreed that we can post the details here for any Investigator 563 owners who would like to join in. Please also join the IYA.

Australia Day Cruise in Cowan Creek and Broken Bay
Saturday 25th January – Monday 27thJanuary
Day 1 (Sat) Meet at Cottage Rock beach for lunch and then to Castle Lagoon for overnight.
Day 2 (Sun) Leave Castle Lagoon and head to Patonga for fish and chips (subject to weather).
Then back to Smiths Creek and overnight in Stingray Bay (first bay on the right).
Day 3 (Mon) Motor or sail from Smiths Creek to Halletts Beach for lunch then disperse.

Please let Doug know if you are going, It is a long way for him to come and find he is the only one.

Emrys- do you have VHF? I still have not made a go/no go decision, but if I do I will monitor CH 16 around 1315 hrs on Saturday. Launching at Bay view, as Appletree bay is too busy and not too good for a t/s.

The indomitable Doug does it again
Friday Parsley bay ramp Brooklyn to America bay mooring.
Saturday fast morning sail in Cowan creek 20-25k winds before being blasted by 30+ knots and hastily lowering sail and motoring into Castle Lagoon mooring for the night.
Sunday motor sail to Patonga in light winds mooring off beach - fish/chips then myself and Doug home to Brooklyn ramp. Others onto Smiths creek for overnight mooring.
A good time had by one and all.
