Selling the I563 after refurbishment for Trimaran

Post by cruiserpete »

Hi all,

I've pretty much come to the conclusion that once my I563 is refurbished I'll begin selling her in favour of a trimaran. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the I563 or my I563 and I'll continue enjoying sailing it whilst she's for sale but I've decided that a trimaran is the way to go for me.
Went sailing on a Farr 31 recently (day sail) and it was just fantastic, easy to sail short handed (only 2 of us) and importantly felt very assured. Yes, there are consideration required when sailing a tri hence the reason for selling the I563.

My original plans were to get a I563 as a lead into a larger keeler so the plans have not changed but just moved from trailer sailer to Trimaran. Hence, I'll get a small coastal cruising Tri to get back into sailing and importantly learning the dynamics of a tri and then as per my original plans I'll upgrade to a larger Tri (most likely a Farr 31 or similar)

Unfortunately, I stuffed up the top coat paint job because I rushed it, and in rushing did not pay attention to what I was doing. That's easily fixed, sand back the botched up paint and reapply a new coat, yes, another $170 in paint but lesson learnt.

I'll continue to enjoy and comment on this fantastic forum until I sell my I563 so I'm not going any where in a hurry as I'm still 2 months from finishing my refurbishment and then sailing her unless I strike it lucky and get a buyer when she is finished. I'll not put her on the market until she is refurbished because I could not bear to sell her 'uncompleted" ... Ha, unless someone offered me what she is worth completed given that she has ALL new fittings... but that's just dreaming (back to reality).

Cheers all, Pete

well.... my gorgeous I563 is now on Gumtree.

I'm in no rush to sell her but best to get the pain over with as soon as possible. I'm not overly negotiable because i still want to go sailing so will need a boat.
I'll continue finishing off the refurbishment but will increase the sale price when I do to reflect the work and importantly moeny invested into her.
I'll never get back what I put in and I never started out with that intention. However, she make a fantastic 'new' boat for someone at what I think is a reasonable price for a buyer.

I think that's a Farrier 31.

HaHa.... I remember the owner correcting me on that as well....plus, the amount of reading I've done you'd think I'd get it right by now
