INVESTIGATOR 563

Hello everyone. I have recently joined this forum and enjoy reading the various threads. I have just become the proud owner of an investigator I hope to have it ready to go for summer. I will post pics when i get home from work in two weeks. My boat is sail number 153.. i hope to meet other investigator sailors on the lakes this summer. I have been on tsp for years as wp23 and seadog. But seem to be having trouble logging on so i just used my name for this site. A question i do have is there anyone here that has launched at marlay point . Is there enough depth for the keel.

I love sailing GL but we put in at Paynesville. At this time we have only got as far as Holland's Landing so I can't comment about the facilities at Lake Wellington. It might be a good idea to contact the Lake Wellington YC and check with them. They run the MP. I just used the forum search function for Marley Point and note that Kevwr400 has launched from there I think. He hasn't posted for a bit but you might be able to email him.

If your trailer has the tilt function then you should be able to launch and retrieve most places. I would suggest because we can't get right up on the beach is you have a really long rope (at least 100ft). Here we are bow in at Duck Arm with the really long rope tied to a tree. Its a bit hard getting on and off over the bow and now we go stern in. Rudder up, anchor over the front, and tilt the motor at the last minute. The beach shelves at Duck Arm bit so you end up in knee deep water. Just pull her out a bit further when going to sleep. Here we are in a pen, at Chinaman's Creek, designed for 40 footers. A really long rope is handy here too. Hint, make it nylon - and just bung it all in a green shopping bag. It comes out easy.

Thanks for the reply peter. I have not seen any investigators at lwyc but i will ask . I had a keelboat at paynesville with 5 ft draft so this boat will enable me to get to a lot more places than the old boat.

The Investigator 563 needs about 50cm of water with centre board retracted. If the slope of the ramp is at least 1 in 12, and there is around a metre of water depth at the end of the ramp, you should have no problems. Just be aware that with a tilt trailer, the boat can shoot off the trailer at quite a speed, and you need to take care with the bow rope that it is long enough for you to slow the boat down, and that it is not in a position to wrap around any part of your body.
