Wobble Wheels

I'm probably the last Investigator owner to fit a set of wobble wheels to my trailer.

A few years ago I mounted some wobble wheels to help guide the keel along the centre of the keel rollers. These were simply attached by welding a bolt to the top of the roller axle support. The idea worked well enough but they weren't that strong and would bend if the boat pushed against them hard enough. One eventually broke off. While I was at it this time, I changed the method that the guide rollers are supported. Now they are clamped to a short length of 2" RHS which is bolted to the rear of the trailer. This setup should be much stronger.

The other modification that I made was to put a brace between the two sets of support rollers. This firmed up the arrangement considerably.

I'll attach a couple of pics. Here is the first showing the wobble wheel supports.

Good work!

I still have the original guide strips on my trailer, so neither you or Peter are the last!

Cheers,

Here I was thinking that I am not embracing new technology quickly enough but all along I'm leading the pack. Its nice to know that my boat is probably the most technologically advanced on the forum.
