Spinnaker Specs

Post by Micheal&Gab »

Recently got a Symetrical spinnaker for the Investigator and have been having fun sorting out the rigging but need to know if anyone has the specs for the type and best location for the spinnaker pole ring and the size of pole. Am also very interested to hear from all on how they have rigged the boat for a spinnaker and the main sail. Dropping the main from the cabin looks heaps better than getting my first mate (she who can hold onto the mast really well and not get washed overboard) to drop it at the mast.

Yara does not actually have a spinnaker. There is however a halyard at the top of the mast which could be used for this or for the genoa.

The main halyard exits the mast on the starboard side and we have a small turning block mounted on a saddle on the side of the cabin top, and lead the halyard from there to a cleat on the cabin top near the cockpit.
We have two mains, the original with mast slides and the newer one with a bolt rope. We use the original as it is easy to hoist from the cockpit.

Sounds great to be able to do all the hard work from the cockpit, nearly lost my first mate once...not good. Any idea what size spinnaker to use. Based on pole ring position on the mast looks like 6m is the max lenght.

Found the spinnaker specs in the SAIL Specification topic. Looks like 6.35m is the max luff size which is about right if the post ring is at the 3 foot mark.
