Still looking for an investigator trailer

Hi folks I’m bumping this temporarily to GENERAL in case it’s lost in FOR SALE.

I’m offering $1200 to anyone wanting to sell their Investigator trailer . Below is the text from my original post. PCFreestyle has informed me by pm that he’s purchasing a keeler, so no longer on the market for boat only. Offer negotiable, a bit, based on what you have or what I could trade from my trailer ie new tyres, good guards etc. I don’t need a pristine trailer as it only gets used every 18 months for service of my moored boat. But it must be registered in NSW and registerable .

Hi all, I’m in the market for another trailer. My current one is repairable but I’m so busy on other matters at the moment that I don’t have time or energy to spend on it. I thought I’d throw it out there and see if anybody has one they want to sell/ replace with a new one. Or maybe someone who’s considering going full mooring with slipping and no trailer cluttering up the yard.

I had earlier contacted PCFreestyle who has a wanted ad on our site for 563 boat only, but does not require a trailer or motor, so if anybody is considering selling he may take your boat and I’ll take your trailer if it’s what I’m after. I may even be interested in your outboard if that’s part of your issue with selling to him. He had no offers at the time.

I’m looking for a structurally sound trailer with current NSW rego. Braked, (requiring annual inspection) I’m not worried if tyres are low on tread as I have new wheels/tyres I can transfer over. If the same size. Also easy replacement items like rollers, springs and brake pads are not an issue.

Cosmetics are also not a problem. I’ve got good bunks I can transfer over. Rust stains as long as not bad structural rust is acceptable. I intent to paint the whole trailer with fish oil, and inject it into the cross members, which is what I should have done with mine when I got it 20 years ago. I also have a new three speed winch to use, so if your winch is dodgy, no issues. In fact you can keep your winch post and winch if you have a good one and wish to transfer it to your new build, same with bunks and supports. I also have good lights so that’s not needed

My offer may suite someone wanting to build a new, pristine trailer to a new design or spec but may not have considered they could realise some cash from their old trailer. Dunno, but never hurts to ask. We’re happy to travel. That’s what we do for fun. I’ll pay cash which may suite if you’re planning a divorce.LOL

Anyway pm me if you have something I may be interested in and we’ll talk turkey, price etc. I tried a recent pm to PCFreestyle to see if he’s still looking for an investigator boat only but no answer so maybe he’s not, or he could be over on Facebook so you could contact him there. I’m not on Facebook.

Hi folks. I’m uping the offer to $1400. I’ve found many reg trailers for around the $1200 but I’d still need to modify the bunks to suit the 563. Pm me if interested. Also, if you are thinking of selling your boat, you could advertise it as a possibility of “boat only” if that’s what someone wants. I’m very flexible,if your trailer is what I’m after, to fit in time wise with that arrangement.

Just bumping this one more time. Rather than up my offer I’m interested in a trailer at whatever price the seller wants. Obviously if the price is high I’d be looking at reasonable quality. Quite a few registered trailers are available 2nd hand but require mods to fit a 563, so thought I’d throw it open. I can realise a bit of value from mine if I sell it as parts so that may offset the higher price with less hassle.

 I thought of another angle …anyone have a reasonable registered trailer with a not so good Investigator they want to sell. Don’t need good motor or good sails just viable trailer. You can tell I’m getting desperate here but. I can always tow your 563 to the nearest dump. Er… need someone near a dump.

Apologies to anyone who is horrified by this.

Thanks Andrew. That might be a good reference brand . I’ll try searching in nsw. I thought about going interstate but it was something of a headache the last time I changed a vehicle from another state . I’m looking at the path of least resistance here 8-) and am prepared to pay for the privilege.

I have found a few that would require minimal modifications to take the Investigator but obviously a dedicated investigator NSW trailer would be best and drive away simplicity. I can always slip Spritzig for the next haulout but that comes with it’s own set of hassles these days as I’ve mentioned before. In the end it comes down to trying not to fall into the trap of spending more than I’m likely to recover to get a functional combo. I’m nothing if not patient. I took me a year to find Spritzig 20 years ago and 18 months to get our little motorhome.

I’ll send you a PM in a short time.

Gday ozzie, Patience is paramount, with a bit of good luck thrown in. Thanks for raising the topic interstate bureaucratic challenges..something to avoid if possible. :-)
