STORAGE BINS.
Hi all, I have built 6 storage bins for my Investigator. What I did was to buy six, 18 litre buckets, a length of 1/2" threaded rod, 48 ×1/2" washers and 48 x 1/2" nuts and put them together after removing the hanbles as seen below in two rows of three. The end one of each row had to be trimmed as shown, but they slide in under the cockpit floor completely, one each side of the tube for the centreboard lift rope and can be slide out one side at a time as far as needed. It gives a tremendous amount of storage. Cheers.

Neat setup Peter. Good call on the trimming of the stern most bin. I’ve been tempted to do this but on the mooring I have my boom tent rolled around 20mm pvc pipe stiffeners on the edge, boat hook, tiller, fishing rods, extension bilge pump pipe and the kitchen sink under the cockpit floor. I’m also tempted to see if I can fit a little wheel on the rudder to roll it under there too, like one of the other forum members posted. Currently I have to lift it outside off the quarter berth if we are just going out on the boat for a quiet arvo with no sailing.

For a small boat the 563 has good storage possibilities.

It’s fun seeing cruising yachts, real cruising yachts visiting the lake and pulled up at Valentine Jetty. These guys have water/fuel Jerry cans, bicycles ,awnings ,life rafts, dogs and easy chairs strapped all over the place. Reminds me of my Kombi travel days .

Didn’t have life raft on Kombi.
