Might work Peter :) I read somewhere on the net. Maybe practical boat owner, that someone put a sign saying or this hatch is booby trapped but the local authorities made him take it off. Killjoys😀

Hi Ian, looks great. I am VERY interested in your front hatch. Looks after market. Would love to see some close up photos of how that was fitted and what mods were required to do so. Thanks in advance

Hi Peter,

It's the standard front hatch with perspex window. A previous owner had made a nicely crafted timber surround for a solar panel glued and screwed to the fibreglass. I recently replaced the solar panel with a 40W one attached with Aluminium angle. I'll try and get a pic for you.

Just in time to save the centreboard lift rope, not a day too soon. I hope my seizing stands up to the job.

Actually, talking of the owner before last, he did some nice things on this boat, including the stainless centreboard. Although there was a rather dodgy repair on the keel that I ground off and epoxy/fibreglassed over before the barrier coat and anti-foul went on.

Nice Job Ian. Have you ever thought of using Dynema. Super strong stuff. Only issue is that you need the correct splicing needles to splice it and they are not cheap, but for its size it's emensly strong.
Just looking closely at that first photo, there looks to be a rough section on that stainless loop. Make sure it's as smooth as a baby's u know what mate. Don't want it to chaffe. Cheers

After I replaced my pull ring I tied the cable with a buntline hitch, put sikaflex over it and then sikaflex in the eye of the ring to stop any movement of the loop in the eye on the mooring. I figured if the boat rocks back and forth a million times a year….that’s a lot of small movements so could wear. Working so far.
