But I can see that in tidal situations or when the pressure was on the extra torque would be a huge advantage for a displacement boat.

I find this an interesting take on “market forces “ theory. There’s an old joke about a bus going over a cliff and the only guy not panicking is the economic rationalist. He knows that another bus full of parachutes will materialise next to his bus in response to the demand that’s just been created :shock: :lol:

Not being political here but there are a squillion trailer sailer/displacement small vessels in this country and if the manufacturer/dealer/supply were catering to this market they could use it as a selling feature for their motors . Then more people would buy them and then the unit cost would come down ….the rain would stop…sweets would grow on trees. :lol: . Not happening. Instead it’s left to small aftermarket manufacturers who have to charge accordingly. Economics was not one of my subjects at school, so maybe I’m missing something here.
