Did the first mock up of the rigging today in the driveway to make sure I have some idea before attempting in public. Unfortunately only have a storm jib, so will have to do some research into dimensions and availability of finding second hand before having to purchase new.
First question is do they normally have a boom vang?
Second what’s the purpose of the rope which goes all the way to the top of the mast at the front, is this for a spinnaker?

Re: Jib
Hi Watto,
The line from the top of mast at front is the spinnaker halyard.
From my reading/understanding, originally they didn't have a vang. But later ones may have had them at production, others fitted them up later themselves. They seem to be an optional extra. Mine didn't have one and the previous owner hadn't seen it as necessary. I made one up anyway and use it, but I don't know how effectively.
Attached are some sail specs put out by an early Investigator association.
Hope that helps, others will be able to add more practical info.

Re: Jib
Cheers Geoff,
A nice head start provided for me.
I have what looks like a repaired main sail, an Ian Short(funny story there) sail in good condition and a little storm job. Unfortunately I can’t seem to upload images as it says the file size is too big.
