Life jackets

Post by Calaway »

Hi again all,
I need to buy new life jackets as the very old Tafts' are well and truly past it.
I would appreciate any info to help with what to consider for this very important part of sailing.
Thanks in advance

Hi Pete,

I have a self inflating life jacket that I got at BCF. It is lite and not too cumbersome.

For the others onboard I have the cheap ones that are the right standard for safety.
They are bulky but I keep them in the cockpit lockes so they are close at hand.

Cheers, Robert

Hi Pete

There is a good thread on TSP

http://trailersailerplace.com.au/forum/ ... inflatable

All on Inflatables. I am looking for a comfortable Vest style PFD1. I mention one in the thread that was on ebay that looked good but was in the early days of approval. I am keeping an eye on the net to see if they are re-advertised with PFD1 standard. Inflates are good I'm sure but the thread does mention some cons.

Good luck sorting what suits you.
