Had not heard of the burnishing David. When I first began mooring in 1990 bulbecks in Newcastle were the people I got my antifoul and advice from . Back then Interprotect was I think the original hard antifoul I used. That was pretty good stuff and I got a few years out of it. It was aided of course by having a planing hull with a 140hp donk which created its own pressure wash .

Brushing for me if I do it in the early stages is usually a medium house broom, not yard broom, and you can always spin it around and use the plastic edge on the back for a scraper. At the end of the cycle when I’ve got the pirates of the Caribbean hitching a ride a blunt brick bolster will get me few more months. Also do this before haulout. It has weight to carry through on a scrape underwater but too blunt to damage the boat. Sort of like weeding your garden with a bulldozer.
