Thanks Ozzie,

I concur on all points. Even when I joined the forum after I bought Ian's I563, I rarely logged in and just 'lurked' and learned heaps. Thank you all.

Had one solo outing with no prior experience, only what I learned here, and went well.

My only unanswered question at this stage is how do you pronounce genoa? Is it je-NOAH, or jenno-ah. :?

It’s funny Geoff Lake Mac is a sailing city obviously and I hear both pronunciations of Genoa. Yonks ago I looked it up on the net and found its named after the Italian city... so Genoa (/ˈdʒɛnoʊə/ JEN-oh-ə, the upside down e is pronounced as a in about. The most common pronunciation around here though is J’ Noah. Which seems like a good old Aussie habit of murdering english  .

I got into the habit of saying genny so as not the sound untutored to either group.

My favourite yacht trivia question to hit sailors with is the difference between a ketch and a yawl.

Hi Ozzie,

That's gold. I assumed jNoah, but my internet searches led me to the same pronunciation you found, hence my confusion.

I didn't want to appear a goose if I ever discussed it in public. I will be using your methodology going forward - genny it is!

No genoa on my boat. Just a couple of headsails and the main. After reading a few of Patrick O'Brians books though, I'm hankaring towards a couple of studding sails. Might have to convert the Investigator to a square rigger to make this work.

One other suggestion. I have a few Investigator reviews that I have collected over the years. Could we have a place to post PDF's of these articles on the forum? I'm sure that these would be of interest to the newer membes.

Ray,

So are you thinking a new sub-forum called 'Investigator Reviews' or something similar?

Would we also put the docs from the Moreton Bay Assoc in there too?

Geoff,
Not really a sub-forum, more like a static page but with PDF's of the various old reviews.

Hey Montoman
Thanks for taking over the Admin job - can be onerous - been there done that.
My only comment is try not to reinvent the wheel.
From my perspective its all about info, info, info - not technology for technology sake
Best wishes

Hi All,

Does anyone have a decent image of the Investigator logo, or can point me to one?

Thanks

Definately should be one of Yarra in recognition of all your good work.

Ian might have a suitable shot of Yarra under sail.
