Hi all,
Everything is just about ready: Sleeping stuff, clothing, galley stuff, fresh fuel and new flares. We are off to Port Phillip Bay for about 10 days from tomorrow. This time, we are going just a little up-market and basing ourselves at Pier 35, a marina, so I anticipate trips ashore and sails in the bay in equal proportion. No extended voyages are planned, but it all depends on the weather. At least there are a couple of rivers to explore. We have been to the bay many times but these are usually just weekend trips where everything is crammed in. Hopefully, this will a relaxing trip with a chance to do more then the usual. I will try and capture a few moments with the camera.

Regards,

Port Phillip Bay out of Pier 35 - a commercial marina.

We spent eight nights and nine days away and it was great. We managed to transfer three days up to their Melbourne operation for no extra charge and spent some city time there. My wife called it retail therapy, but I think it was for her not me. We did a mix of on-board cooking and eating out.

Nearly every day we would motor down river (The Yarra) and have a look at the bay. We were rarely disappointed. We had some marvelous sailing and a safe place to go each night.

Pier 35 launched and retrieved our boat via forklift - this was very dear but no ramp rage. They also let us park our car and trailer on-site. There is a bar and grill co-located. The booze is dear but the food and coffee, which were both excellent, was reasonably priced.

We never moved our car. It was easy to get to off the Westgate Bridge.

We usually do Gippsland Lakes but we would certainly give some thought to doing an 'urban' sailing experience again.
