I don't think going through the Narrows to Gladstone is really sailing in open waters. Rather more like sailing in a big river. I have had to sail in and dock motorless but not by choice. I was out on Port Philip Bay one day when the motor wouldn't start. I wouldn't like to have to do that every time.
