Link is still active so I will have my 2 bobs worth.
I run a 3.5 two stroke, pushes boat easily to hull speed, little heavy on fuel compared to the 5hp parsun on my other boat!
Don’t buy a through prop exhaust motor as they don’t work so well in reverse. Only buy a motor that will rotate 360 degree's.

Went for an overnight at Pt. Phillip.

5hp Mercury started easily and we set out from Warmies ramp in a good 15 knots. Set the sails with two reefs. I still have not got the board to drop, We had a wonderful sail.

Next we headed for Hobson's Bay YC to pick up a friend. Engine would start but not run for long and then became difficult to start at all. EEEEEEK! Peter's first rule of outboards. They must run when you want them to.

It all turned into a bit of a catastrophe actually.

We ended up sailing back up the channel to Warmies in the near dark. Pulled out - de-rigged - and went home. Disappointing!!!!

PS: Figured out a block and tackle arrangement and the 8 hp Yamaha is now installled as the motive power for Pip.
