Re: Marauder 24 under water sydney harbour
Sorry to see a rare vessel on the rocks like that Luke. Any ideas/info what caused this? Looks like they floated her off the rocks with Airbags, any more on the salvage.?

I think they had fierce winds overnight and his anchor rope broke or abraded. He woke at 3am to it going onto the rocks.
He didn't use airbags, he said he used 3 IBCs and 8 ratchet straps to float it off.
He had no money and it was in Sydney, the authorities gave him 3 days to get gone and he had no money. He offered the boat at one stage to anyone who wanted it, but someone set up a gofundme and they got a few k together for him.

As the engineer said, "sure it works in practice, but will it work in theory?"

Ouch, there's a fibre-glassing project and a half.
Re-the anchor rope chaffing through, it is exactly what i was worried about before adding a lot of galvanised chain so it cant chafe through on roller fitting.
If you don't want to go all chain then its possible to keep a 1-2ft length of split hose to go over the anchor rope at the bow roller to prevent rope chafe. The split hose is cut along its length, has lanyards attached though holes at each end to tie off so it doesn't slip up or down. A little prevention like this can avoid a disaster,
