It has always been a bit of a pain taking off the jockey wheel when I hitch up the trailer. I'm never certain that the clamp will hold when I put it back on again. The friction to hold it in place seems to rely as much upon a bead of weld around the wheel support as on the clamp itself.
BCF had a special on trailer parts a couple of weeks ago, so I took the opportunity to upgrade to a 10" swing up jockey wheel. I had to make up a custom bracket to mount it to the trailer so that the larger wheel had clearance to swivel out of the way after the trailer was lowered on the tow ball. The bracket ended up looking like something only its mother could love, but it did the trick.
