keel guard
Re: keel guard
Welcome TDK. Can you expand on keelguard? Is it a rubbing strip or a paint system?

Thanks Yara50.
Rubbing strip is the one I'm after. I saw my friend used it for his power boat and just wondering I might use it for my keel as it was scratched quite badly.

Re: keel guard
I've looked at this stuff before for the same reason, super pricey so I gave it a miss.

Re: keel guard
You can buy gel coat mix and apply to the keel. I did this a while ago, but probably should do it again. Would be cheaper than that stick-on strip.

Thanks Yara50. I'll give gelcoat mix a try. Hopefully it last a bit long

Re: keel guard
I have considered this problem tdk as I beach Spritz a bit . My issue is scratching off of my antifoul. Have you considered repairing the gelcoat then masking off the forefoot area of the keel and painting it with a rubberized paint of some sort or even at a pinch applying a thinly applied layer of Sikaflex or similar adhesive. This could be touched up as needed but would protect the gelcoat layer.
I have been going to experiment with this to see if it will stick to my antifoul and if the sika itself would attract marine growth.
Obviously this idea or indeed your original idea would need to be able to withstand the stress of launch and retrieve without damage. The front section of the keel on the 563 takes a fair bit of pressure during the initial part of retrieval .
Good luck . Please tell us how it goes if you go with the rub strip.
