Bow eye
Bow eye
With recent attention to our boat trailer and winch, I had noticed the bow eye was protruding further out of the bow than it was designed for, this seemed feasible because of the large hook on the winch, but curiosity got the better of me so I reckon I needed a closer look.
Yep my suspicions where confirmed. There is no backing plate on the u-bolt and the nuts are gradually being pulled through the bow of the boat. Not a nice thing to happen at the boat ramp!Re: Bow eye
A bit more work on the bow eye over the last few days.
Had to open up the damaged holes, paint some resin in them and then plug them up with some fiberglass reinforced polyester putty. I straightened out the old eye, made a 1/4" backing plate that I can tie an anchor rope to and fitted it all back together with a sealant, looks just the shot now.
