Not a bad idea David. I’m considering going to Vanuatu by 563 right now would be safer than the bloody Ruby Princess

Great posts on winches,

im still an old bloke with an old which. Its single gear wire rope with a steam punk look. It could be original. But it worked easily on my last trip, due to the trailer modifications made on the rebuild.

To recap, These were longer drawbar, moved the axles back, moved the bow crutch and winch post back..the keel rollers sit low in a deep v frame with a dropped axle. Greased the keel roller pins and lowered the aft bunks at rig up zone.

Also the new ramp was bit steeper than my old favorite. Can immerse the trailer much deeper when the ute back wheels are 1m from the water. It almost floated off and on! The bow was well over the trailer for hook up, just had to winch up a few meters. it was almost effortless compared to previously, pleasantly surprized. so wont need a new winch for awhile.
