Re: Best outboard for an investigator563

Ozzie, doubt very much there'll be clearance sales. All 2 strokes gone already. At last years Sydney boat show dealers where out of 2 strokes and only selling 4's. That would have been ideal time to get rid of stock imho

Myall Lakes - Park closure

The Myall lakes National Parke will be closed indefinite from Wed 8 Jan
NPWS officers have advised also that all land based areas accessible by boat are closed as well
The Park will be closed all together leaving no vehicle access
I would suggest passing this around with our boating friends

Re: Where do I get a new boom end casting?

Yep. That's the same as mine. There were some variations of the connection to the plug. On mine the pin which goes into rod piece has a split pin thru it inside the boom which makes it permanent so the boom is removed by sliding off the track. Raya's appears to be the version where the rod just slid...

Re: Where do I get a new boom end casting?

Mine looks like neither of those - will check brand and get pic on boat tomorrow. Mine has plug similar to Raya's but with an s/s fitting similar to Riley's RM 84 or RM 85 to give you the tack mounting. Has a stopped slide to give adjustment on track mounted to mast. Mine could be old Ronstan fittin...

Re: Laminated Tiller construction

Have had laminated tillers on all of our family's boats since the early 60's. The current one on the I563 may be the last as I've virtually run out of the Beech used for the lighter color. The darker timber is Australian Cedar. The Beech was originally 25 years seasoned when my late father found it h...

Fit-out ideas for the dedicated cruiser

Came across this interesting blog whilst on the Off Centre Harbor website. Very much DIY ideas for tricking up a small sailboat for long spells aboard - in this case a 24 footer. Some great ideas in the boat-upside-down section http://karenandjimsexcellentadventure.b ... -bits.html

Re: Stretched Investigator

Talk about a brumby!
If the designer thought that a junk rig was the way to go(and that he could sell them) he would have designed it so.
