Trailerable Sailboat - Inspection Checklist
I wrote this sometime back for myself before I bought my I563 where it was a useful aide-memoire. I certainly don't claim that it is perfect. It was originally in an Excel Spreadsheet so I hope it translates OK to here: LAND Propulsion engine fuel tank and lines LAND Propulsion engine compression LA...

Re: Newbie looking for i563
It certainly looks like its worth a look to me. The outboard looked new and the trailer looked pretty. About the only things I would like to see that I haven't are the state of the sails and what the bilge looks like. A question might be is it currently insured and was it inspected for that?

Re: Becalmed, Mayhem, and a Maintenance Warning
A continuous furler is good, but needs a method of keeping the tension on the furling line, and that is a lot of complication for a t/s. How about a big horn cleat to stop both "ends" of the line? Every week I put up the flag at work - I tension both sides of the halyard, take a full turn...

Re: Becalmed, Mayhem, and a Maintenance Warning
Thanks, Mark. My set up has no separate forestay so I attach the furled sail to the top of the mast when rigging. Have the backstay slack, stand-up the mast and then attach the furled sail to the bow and use back-stay pressure to tighten when sailing. My code zero uses the spinnaker halyard. I have ...

Hi Mark,Mark wrote:But it was not to be, failed to furl the headsail in those conditions and it became wrapped around the forestay partially with lots of sail flapping in the wind - terrible noise.
Can you tell the forum what kind of set up you have to furl the headsail and act as forestay.

Re: Indroduction
In my experience most students come to school because they like recess and lunch so please don't apologize for that. BTW, knowing about the use of apostrophes is one of the least useful skills for boat ownership IMHO but I'm glad you or your signwriter picked it up. And, can I say I'm already enviou...

Re: Indroduction
Welcome, Jeff.
I would be interested to learn about the performance of the centerboard when you go out again. At least a wooden one won't rust!
The teacher in me suggests "Lifes Good" should read "Life's Good". An abbreviation for life is good.

Welcome,
My only advice is that if you want to sail then you restrict the work to refurbishment and making safe rather than rebuilding, but should ship-wrighting be your thing then you have come to the right place to pick a few brains.
Once again, welcome.
