Re: Topping lift

I have done similar to what you said Christie, used TL to hold the boom up higher when rigging my shade shelter. My boat came with a dismountable shelter with poles mounted on hinges on the deck. It was ok but unable to be used under sail. Nowadays I tend to put the boom at the top of the mast track...

Re: Centreboard Removal

https://investigator563.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?t=255 Ian, the above, very old, thread has some stuff. Ian B mentioned my solution to leaks which is still working decades later. Top of a screw down plastic air tight food storage bottle from coles . You need the type that have big lids and flair out ...

Re: Check your thu-hulls

I have used white packing foam slabs and glued them together with spray can foam from the green shed Ian. Works ok. I filled the space created by the rear keel shape under the cockpit floor that way, as I kept loosing stuff in the hole. Also used the same technique to take up space in my bucket that...

Re: USEFUL STUFFS

Should give credit where it’s due I guess. I was checking my safety gear in my sailing bag and on my little orange fishing catamaran for the summer and came across a bunch of chemical light sticks from Kathmandu. I had brandless light sticks before and they tend to have short shelf life and I replac...

DIY hot knife

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9f5KIioLIs There are a million tooltips and tricks on YouTube, but I’d draw your attention to 8.35 or tip 15 on this video. I have not tried it but at times a hot knife would have seemed very useful when making up running rigging or similar cordage. If you have an ol...

Re: Showcase your Investigator

Certainly a renovation and a half Peter but the boat is a credit to you and your workmanship. Looking forward to your sailing adventures. :D

Re: Check your thu-hulls

Scary stuff Andrew  As I mentioned once before my only through hull was the paddle speed log which I siliconed up permanently when I moored Spritzig II. I might fair it over with epoxy next haulout just to be sure after watching that. I’ll never Bluewater sail but I think I’d have things like...

Re: Sonata 6

The Sonata 6 was almost our first “big “ boat back in the early 90’s Andrew. My boss was selling his and I almost bought it. The accommodations were pretty much Investigator equivalent and I liked the self tacking jib as sailing all seemed a bit of a mystery back then. Finished up going with the Swi...

Re: Looking for an Invest563 in Victoria / Gippsland / Melb

I don’t have Facebook but there are large marketplace and specific category marketplace Facebook sites that may help. I am a longtime gummy user but I’m becoming somewhat of a dinosaur I suppose. Gumtree has become a site for commercial car ads. You used to be able to put a “general” search in and g...
