Re: Mast raising single handed
I made a mast crutch with roller-wheels to help keep the mast off the deck - how do you keep your mast clear off the Hatch? I have an aluminium bracket with a roller that sits over the pull pit rails when the mast is down. I'm currently in the process of making a permanent all in one bracket that w...

Investigator in the news - for the wrong reason........
So some filthy piece of shit set fire to the tarp over my boat last week. Apparently this has been happening a lot and channel nine came around to hear me spray about it - most of which did not/could not air.

I've looked at this stuff before for the same reason, super pricey so I gave it a miss.

Re: Hanked-on headsails
I got a beauty for free off an 18ft skiff, it was its storm jib, was fully battened (since removed) and needed a small repair. Its huge compared to the standard jib but doesn't effect the way the boat moves (faster or slower) in a strongish wind, it only helps when the wind is really light. I hank i...

Re: Winch cable alternatives.
Mine is a seat belt strap type. Does the job but can be annoying to keep it flat on the winch when pulling the boat up. It has a tendency to bunch up on one side and you need to make sure its not twisted when you attach it to the boat.

Re: bilge bolts
They were used to lower the lead ingots down into position during manufacture. Its all good if they have rusted away, if you need to remove the ingots for maintenance you can drill and tap new bolts into the ingots to lift them out.

I don't get it? That's a great sailing video, lucky you didn't loose the camera when it was recorded!

Re: Strange investigator?
I messaged the owner and asked them about the boat -
"Hi, the original sail number is 98 and the keel is different because i believe that they had installed an aftermarket drop keel"
I guess it would be a faster boat like that but it really destroys the space inside.

Has anyone else seen this boat or have any idea where it came from?

Looks like an Investigator deck stuck on a sonata hull maybe? Strange.
