Re: Old bloke using an old winch.

Sorry for the late reply............. but yes (or no?) I wasn’t using a snitch block with the electric winch, it never crossed my mind!

The 3 speed I’m using is the one off the shelf at BCF which is geared 10:5:1.

Re: Old bloke using an old winch.

Just sat down after a busy day of working on the boat, would have been out sailing it if it wasn’t for this gale that rolling through. On my list today was to try to stitch up the strap on my winch that has started separating badly and probably wouldn’t last another retrieval. Long story short I end...

Re: Rhythm Manly NSW

I’ve seen this one out on the water and driven past it parked on the street. It appears pretty tidy from what I could tell, don’t know about the asking price though, seems a bit high.

Re: Children and sailing

I remembered this thread from a few years ago and searched it up as my (now) 6 year old has been getting more interested in sailing. Hes already (terrifyingly) confident on his Kayak and has joined the sea scouts so I figured it was about time he started learning the basics and some steering. He has...

Roller reefing boom fitting jammed

My roller reefing gooseneck has gotten stiff of late to the point today it totally jammed up on a weird angle. I pulled it apart when I got it home and greased up the nylon bushing, now it’s all good. I’ve uploaded video and some photos here: https://www.facebook.com/131489233859293/posts/1062223927...

Re: USEFUL STUFFS

I bought a 180w (2x 90w) fold up solar panel about 5 years ago for not much money off ebay. I sit it in the cockpit flat(ish) along the floor and clip it into my 55ah deep cycle battery in the seat locker. Id have to go outside to confirm but I’m pretty sure it’s a 7amp charger that came glued to th...

Re: Another one on a mooring in Sydney

Haven’t see around on its mooring for a few weeks now maybe longer. They might have pulled it out and did some work on it?

Re: Another one on a mooring in Sydney

I go past this one on its mooring all the time, you can see it driving across Iron Cove bridge too. It’s actually in pretty good shape, probably better condition than mine. It’s name is “Tambora” I think. Never see it being sailed though, wouldn’t know it’s sail number.

Re: WA Investigators - A few interesting facts

Found this one having a sniff around - same setup but may be a different boat located in SA.
