Re: Electric yachts - the future?

I found a video I made of the trolling motor pushing the investigator:

Re: Electric yachts - the future?

I’ve used my cheap Chinese 45lbs trolling motor to push the investigator around a few years back just to see how it goes. Worked well in the calm water and boat speed got up to constant 2knts. Wouldn’t want to travel more than too and from the ramp on it though and the responsiveness was much less t...

Re: Moving under power

I’ll never forget the first time I attempted getting out of the water via the standard Investigator boarding ladder......... my very next purchase was a folding hook on ladder which was an incredible investment in my sanity.

Re: New window cutout forms

I might be wrong but I think all the early investigators had the aluminium frames and the later ones had the fiberglass recessed for the purplish windows?

Either way it’s good to get rid of those horrible leaky things, they were probably 90% silicone when I pulled them out.

New window cutout forms

Finally had a chance to cut out new windows for L&D today. I made some forms of the window shape I wanted then cut the windows using an edge router with a beveled bit against the forms. See my post here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1359230737751797&type=3 If anyone wants the fo...

Re: Toilet recommendations please.

Thunder bucket all the way! Same bucket i use to flush the motor with the seat from BCF. If a number 2 needs to happen I insert a bin liner(s) and double bag it. Had a porta potty when i got the boat and it was a horrible thing.

Main traveller track locations?

I’ve currently got my boat pulled apart for a lick of paint and I’m ‘considering’ moving the main traveller track away from the top of the transom. It’s ok enough a location for sailing up wind but I’ve found the main sheet block fowls up the tiller whenever I gybe. Has anyone got a boat setup with ...

Re: Roller reef with a vang!

Yeah I did think it was probably going to chew the sail up, even using it for your mainsheet with a traveller directly underneath I can’t imagine it would be good for the sail. Cheers for the education on these things. Totally agree with the roller reef boom being a really convenient quick way to pa...

Roller reef with a vang!

For the purists that use their roller reefing systems spotted this thing on eBay for $20! One of my pet hates of the roller reef system is the lack of vang, this thing would solve that all though it may cause damage to your main? https://www.ebay.com.au/i/333719988999?_trksid=p11010.c100415.m3733&am...

Re: Cavities inside keel and around bilge areas.

I don’t think the cavity’s are there for any reason other than to have some wriggle room when they lowered in the lead ingots. I ended up painstakingly cleaning all the muck I possibly could out of there and let it dry right out. I then sealed it all up by cutting strips of plastic to shape and sili...
