Re: small is beautiful

I find the Investigator perfect for 2+ day cruises as the time/effort spent preparing and getting away is considerable compared to the small beach craft, it's not really a daysailer unless left rigged up somewhere. I can’t say that I agree with the above. (The first five words I agree with). I’ve o...

Moored investigator 563 on Gumtree Sydney area

$4k On mooring, but nicely set up for it. Says has done coastal passages between Broken Bay and Sydney Port Jackson.

Re: Laminated Tiller construction

Beautiful!

Now you have got the hang of it, you could go into production and make a business of it. Or at least sell off your prototypes. Most of us would be happy with the earlier versions.

Re: Mainsheet traveller

Bimini works fine with standard mainsheet setup. Do a search on here -top right for menu- and you will find many examples.

A boom vang will get you the main sail control you want. The Investigator 563 boom is stronger than the Sonata 6 one.

Re: New Investigator

Wonder if the hull includes the lead. 350kg of lead would not be cheap.
The rule of thumb is that the hull of a yacht is usually worth less than one third of the total cost, and maybe even less. Hence lots of hulls sitting in paddocks all around the country.

Re: Death of the two stroke?

The 6hp 4 stroke Toey Sailpro is single cylinder. For an Investigator you need the finest pitch prop you can get, whatever motor you buy, so you get the revs at low boat speed. Revs gives you power. The 4 stroke is economical as it uses a lot less fuel. An important point if you are doing lots of mo...

Re: Best outboard for an investigator563

6 hp is more than enough. I went for the 6hp Sailpro and it never gets over just past starting revs most times. The 6 hp 4 stroke Sailpro was roughly the same price as the 2 stroke long shaft and has an extra long shaft. A bit hard to move around and I had to raise my stand, but great for keeping th...

Re: Death of the two stroke?

Andrew, I think 4hp is enough. My 6hp never gets up more than just off start setting. The 2.3hp was adequate for calm sea and 15 knots breeze. I would have gone 5hp but the extra long shaft Sailpro was only in 6. I am happy with 4 stroke. No problems with stale fuel and oiled plugs. Idles happily wi...

Yes, tried all that, but nothing in my permissions about sticky posts, and the drop down menu does not list that as an option.
