Re: Sail Storage
Hi Alex, I live in North Queensland so conditions are probably different to Sydney. I stored my two sets of sails in a spare bedroom, and when I unfolded them several months later a rat had moved in, one set was completely destroyed. The otherI had to patch so it now looks like The Coat Of Many Colo...

Re: Showcase your Investigator
Welcome from me too Alex, when I was your age (about 52 years ago), I developed a life long love of boats. It's good to have you aboard this great forum.

Re: trailer lights
The best thing that I did was to buy a tail light board from Super Cheap, it attaches to top of transom with two bungee cords, or if trailer empty just to back of trailer. It's quick and easy to mount or demount. The cost was about$60.

Re: Stoves
David, I have an old single burner Maxi stove in my storage system ( shed full of crap ), if you or any of our bloggers would like it for free private message me postal address. It's stainless and brass but I have no use for it. I did a test, boiled a measured cup of water - one minute thirty second...

Stoves
I have one of those single burner butane stoves David, but mine is stainless steel. It must be of a decent grade as after four years it's completely rust free. I bought it from Big W, bit as is usually the case when I discover a product that I really like, they are never to be seen in stock again. I...

Re: Steering (Magnetic) Compass chat
I bought a Plastimo bulkhead mounted compass and installed it on the starboard side cabin bulkhead in cockpit. It's totally useless for two reasons. I saved money by buying one without a light (silly), and the compass varies by plus or minus 30 degrees bepending on heading. I think this is caused by...

Re: GPS Units 2020
David, I read about your experience being rescued in Bass Strait. I'm not sure which thread I was reading, so hope you find this reply. I remember the event well, it must have been a daunting experience and you were certainly headline news for several days. Sometimes these experiences deter people f...

Re: Greetings From Topaz Bill
You can see the flopper stopper deployed on port side on the YouTube video I did at Middle Percy, that was ideal conditions for it to work. I'm going to pull yacht out of shed on a couple of days, I'll rig her and set up the stabiliser to do and do another crappy video. It seems to work well with vi...

Re: Greetings From Topaz Bill
The fuel tank David is separate, and it is something intangible how water enters the fuel system. It's not much fun hanging over the transom in the conditions I was in, trying to change filters and spark plugs. Why do these things seem to happen at the worst possible times? I'm glad Andrew that you ...

Re: A chat about VHF Radios
I've been in a dilemma Andrew about VHF antenna mounting. I'd considered every possible mounting position - except yours. What a great idea, my antenna is currently tied to the port stay wire with a couple of cable ties, but not after tomorrow.
