Re: Greetings From Topaz Bill

Hey Bill thanks so much for the video tour, greatly appreciated!

This is the style of catch I was thinking about for the anchor locker (not this expensive hopefully) https://www.theboatwarehouse.com.au/coc ... ess-steel/

Re: Greetings From Topaz Bill

Hi Bill, loved the videos. Great to see what can be done in this little boat. I posted the following in your last video: A few things I wondered about open water sailing in the Investigator: 1. how do you secure the pop top incase of knock down? 2. same for anchor well - could you please give us a c...

Re: Insurance and an introduction

Just noticed this thread has grown. Apologies for not following up with details. I wound up insuring with Topsail Insurance (they recently paid out generously on my Brother's boat which was hit by another boat while at anchor). My situation is obviously different but the boat itself is covered in tr...

What is this?

Rhythm came with many 'treasures'. Most of them are obvious (misc. blocks, shackles, etc.) but what is this. It looks like it has a purpose.

Re: GIBB 7STA self-tailing winch

Persistence, patience and WD40 won the day! Back together and clicking away nicely. Now to try and resurrect the other one. This is a very strange winch design, the only way to wrap the line around the drum is to feed it under the stainless tube. Anyway, looking forward to testing it out on the wate...

Re: GIBB 7STA self-tailing winch

Thanks David, I saw that stainless one as well. And I also thought about getting a 3D scan of the existing part, if and when I snap it off (which looks likely), and then getting it printed in composite. Soaking in silicone oil had no effect, so now its soaking in WD40 which will probably dissolve it...

GIBB 7STA self-tailing winch

Hi Folks, Does any one have these winches on their boat. They have a swivelling plastic arm to guide the sheet into the cleat at the top. The problem is that they are 30-40 years old and the plastic is now deteriorated and jammed so that they don't swivel. The rathcet pawls on one needed cleaning so...

Re: Insurance and an introduction

Hi David and Geoff, Thanks for the replies. I didn't write my question carefully enough and now I think I've answered it for myself. In NSW (and presumably the other states) the compulsory third-party insurance (Green Slip in NSW) covers liability for personal injury or death to third-parties in cas...

Insurance and an introduction

Hi Folks, I am the new owner of Rhythm. A quick thank you to the members and administrators of this forum for providing lots of useful information to assist in my purchasing decision. I'm looking forward to getting out on the water with my family. I am looking for advice on insurance. I have had a f...
