Re: Trailer Damage
Hi All, I'm going through a trailer maintenance phase. On test sail #1 the boat was stuck on the trailer awhile, after checking the see if the centerboard was stopping it, we went in deeper, pushed harder and it moved off. The trailer is a break-back. I bought 2 replacement rollers for the back end ...

Re: Lightning
Looks like complex motor boats in the article, i wonder how investigators would go? :?: I suppose stay home if electrical storms forecast. If caught out in an electrical storm presume staying in the cabin would be the best chance. If on land inside the cars or house the safest spots. Had a few scrap...

Re: Where to go?
Hi Pete, If i wasn't living up here, i would stay somewhere south of Hervey Bay/ Gladstone in the cyclone season from Dec to March. It's possible for adventurous types to go to the far north then, but its raining far more often which can make waters murkier, marine stinging jelly fish also in season...

Re: U bolt "chain plates" for shrouds (mast side stays)
The new u-bolts were off the shelf at Rosshaven marine - Ronstan M8 316 stainless, about $25 each. Replaced both sides with silicone sealant under top plate.

Re: U bolt "chain plates" for shrouds (mast side stays)
Great subject and thanks for the posts and pics, I should have listened to this and done some preemptive maintenance..But anyway, went out on test sail No1 in old Teria. Besides the centerboard drop line remaining slack.. the main thing was the chainplate u-bolt half-failure while sailing. It went w...

Re: Centerboard rusted and stuck
Thanks Ian, it sure does look like that, will have a go at the centerboard removal and keep you posted. It looks like the boards rusted up at the forward pivot bolt end, removed some rust from this area already. Tools tried: a paint-scraper, machete blade, hammer, screw driver, short jemmy bar and a...

Re: Centerboard rusted and stuck
There is slight centerboard movement when i used a small jemmy bar between roller and aft end of centerboard. It was resting against the roller, went up about 5mm with a slight rusty crunching sound. Eventhough it's the wrong direction and still not dropping, it's moving, so that's a relief. Searche...
